What is a share registry?

A share registry is an organisation which works on behalf of the listed company. Responsibilities include monitoring share ownership changes, issuing shareholding statements, managing dividend payments, amongst other things.

All companies listed on the ASX have a share registry assigned to them. A company can select a specific share registry to maintain the list of shareholders and administrative work that is required.

Common share registries include Link Market Services, Computershare, and Boardroom.
