Trading Pro is upgrading to Netwealth IRESS ViewPoint

From 27 November 2022, we’re excited to be launching the next generation of Trading Pro – IRESS ViewPoint.

Redesigned with a richer and more modern user interface and greater flexibility in how you customise your trading experience, Netwealth IRESS ViewPoint will continue to provide dynamic, real time market data and trading capabilities for active traders.

What’s changing

After the upgrade subscribers will no longer have access to the current version of Trading Pro. Instead, you will gain access to the new and improved Netwealth IRESS ViewPoint platform, accessible from the same location.

Login to the Netwealth Share Trading website and go to Trading > IRESS ViewPoint > Launch ViewPoint.

New features

  • Easier online access via a web browser (no more plugins required)
  • Better customisation of your desktop and trading experience with the ability to dynamically control the size and shape of a widget and view more data in a single view
  • Improved interface, additional technical chart indicators and simpler order entry
  • Greater alert capabilities including browser pop-ups and sounds

What you need to do

There’s nothing you need to do to get access and your subscription fee will remain the same. Your portfolio, watchlists and managed orders will be transferred to the upgraded Netwealth IRESS ViewPoint. Any custom dashboards and alerts you have set up in Trading Pro will need to be set up again in the new platform.

What is Netwealth IRESS ViewPoint?

Replacing Trading Pro, ‘IRESS ViewPoint’ is IRESS’ next generation real time streaming and data streaming platform for active traders and leverages state of the art technology to deliver a fully integrated content and trading experience for ASX-listed securities, including Australian shares, warrants, ETFs and ETOs.

When is the changeover happening?

The change is coming into effect from Sunday 27 November 2022.

What are the main differences between Trading Pro and IRESS ViewPoint?

  • There is no longer a right-click functionality – common actions can now be accessed by clicking on the icon displayed as three dots in a white speech bubble to the left of a security code. This will allow you to buy or sell, access a quote, chart or security profile information.
  • There is no navigation menu – content is now easily displayed through data widgets via configurable worksheets. Your settings can be managed via the drop-down menu in the top right-hand corner of the screen.

How do I upgrade to IRESS ViewPoint?

Existing Trading Pro subscribers will automatically be upgraded to the new version of IRESS ViewPoint.

How much will IRESS ViewPoint cost?

There is no change in cost. IRESS ViewPoint will remain the same price, from $77 per month. For a full list of fees visit the ‘Rates & fees’ tab found under Products & Services > Fees & Charges.

How do I place an order using the upgraded platform?

To place an order, log into your Netwealth Share Trading account and launch IRESS ViewPoint by going to Trading > IRESS ViewPoint > Launch.

Once launched, you can access the ‘Fixed Order Entry’ widget from the main order window or from within any widget.

Select ‘Buy or Sell’. With this action the order entry widget will automatically expand.

To place an order, enter the required fields. If you have multiple accounts, make sure you select the account you wish to trade on:

  • Enter the stock code
  • Select either Buy or Sell
  • Enter the volume amount or trade value
  • Order type, and
  • Select either 'Limit’ or ‘Market to Limit’ price

The 'Trading Information’ will appear to the left which summarises details of the order.

To submit the order to market, select ‘Place the order’ which can be found at the bottom of the screen.

There are four other trading widgets that you can use to place or manage your orders using IRESS ViewPoint.

These include:

  • Order Ticket – a simplified order entry widget commonly used to place multiple orders on multiple stocks ahead of the market open
  • Quick Trade – for speed to market with minimal inputs for the order
  • Order Pad – for management of orders that are in the market
  • Trade Widget – to retrospectively review previous orders.

Will I be able to trade my existing portfolio?

Yes, your existing portfolio will be available to trade within IRESS ViewPoint. Your Trading Pro data will be migrated to the new version when we launch.

Will my Watchlist/s be migrated to the new version?

Yes, your Watchlist/s will be migrated across and available to view within IRESS Viewpoint. To view a specific Watchlist, type the dollar sign ‘$’ within a ViewPoint watchlist search box to access your Trader watchlist (e.g., $traderwatchlistname).

Will my open orders from Trading Pro be available in the new version on launch?

Yes, any open orders that are in the Trading Pro platform when we migrate to IRESS ViewPoint will be available in the new version from 27 November 2022.

Can I still use my RealTimeData (RTD) add-in?

IRESS will no longer be supporting the Excel RTD add-in available on Trading Pro and will be decommissioning this functionality as part of the Trader retirement initiative. This item has been deemed to be a possible vulnerability, so IRESS has decided to remove this feature.

If you are subscribed to the RTD add-on or if this is included in your existing subscription package, you will see a cost reduction. For a full list of fees visit the ‘Rates & fees’ tab found under Products & Services > Fees & Charges.

Why are some widgets not appearing in the new version?

If some widgets aren’t appearing correctly, you may need to adjust your screen or image resolution. If you have too many widgets or not enough space for them, the widget abbreviation will appear.

Alternatively, if you would like to display more data in a smaller space, you could layer widgets over the top of each other, then browse between the tabs. You can add a widget over an existing one by clicking on the menu item in the top right-hand corner and selecting add widget. The new one will appear as an additional tab.

You can also detach widgets to display them outside of the workspace area. To do this, click on the menu item in the top right-hand corner, select detach and drag the window where you would like it to be placed on your screen.

Are there any additional training materials I can access?

There are a number of resources available to educate you on some of the features and functions of IRESS ViewPoint including:

  • IRESS have a dedicated User Training page with easy to digest ‘How To’ videos
  • You can also access a range of New User Training videos within the IRESS platform by selecting Add Widget > Training > Get Started on ViewPoint Training > Ok. This will launch a short course which provides a basic overview to get you started on the IRESS ViewPoint platform.

Are there any software or browser requirements for IRESS ViewPoint?

One of the major benefits of IRESS ViewPoint is there is no requirement for Java which Trading Pro required. This means IRESS ViewPoint is compatible with the latest version of the following browsers:

  • Chrome (preferred)
  • Mozilla FireFox
  • Safari
  • Microsoft Edge

For the best experience, we recommend you update your browser to the latest version available. To help with this, we encourage you to have your browsers on an auto update schedule. Browsers such as Chrome and Mozilla FireFox will update in the background when you close and reopen your computer's browser.
